An Eye for Detail

Sharlene Phillips – OneEyedFrog Photography®

"The true value of a photograph is not realised until it is the only thing left."

Sharlene Phillips is a highly respected Australian equine photographer, renowned for her exceptional attention to detail and ability to capture the deep connection between horse and rider. With over 35 years of experience, she has mastered film processing, darkroom development, and digital imaging, positioning herself as a leader in commercial, corporate, and event photography.

Holding a Bachelor of Arts in Fine Arts, Sharlene’s background includes Drawing, Animation, Art History, Photography, Painting, and Sculpture. Her extensive equine knowledge, shaped by a lifetime around horses and mentorship from elite judges, equestrian instructors, and professional riders, allows her to portray equestrian sport with authenticity and depth.

As an accredited Australian Professional Photographer with certifications from AIPP, Boneo Park, and Equestrian Victoria, she specialises in Equine Portraiture and Equestrian Event Photography across Victoria and Australia. Her coverage includes interschool equestrian events, show jumping, horse trials, cross country, dressage, RDA, para equestrian athletes, HRCAV, ARC, TTT, pony clubs, Equitana Australia, the Royal Melbourne Show, MI3DE, corporate events, clinics, horse shows, rodeos, and reining.

She has been personally invited to photograph elite equestrian clinics and international figures, including Princess Nathalie of Denmark, George Morris, Her Majesty The Queen’s Senior Coachman Philip Barnard Brown, America’s Horse Whisperer Lew Sterrett, among others.

OneEyedFrog Photography has worked with prestigious organisations and publications, including Equestrian Australia, Equestrian Victoria, HRCAV, Equitana Australia, Equestrian Life Magazine, The Weekly Times, Herald Sun, Boneo Park, Arilla Restaurant, The Regional Horse News, Horse Deals Magazine, The Horse Magazine, Signature Travel & Style Magazine, and others. Her work has also appeared in private school publications, various websites, and television advertisements. These collaborations highlight her versatility and ability to deliver high-quality imagery across multiple industries and media platforms.

As a major sponsor of Victorian Interschool Equestrian Showjumping Events, she actively supports the development of young riders. Beyond photography, she is deeply passionate about Australian frog conservation, breeding and keeping various species under a wildlife license while advocating for their protection.

At OneEyedFrog Photography, every moment is captured with care, ensuring equestrian memories are preserved with professionalism and artistry.
